Is there a free trial?
No free trial — but the Pilot tier ($5,000 / 90 days) has every module unlocked on real data. Skin in the game on both sides means we commit to outcomes, not slideware. If you hit your pilot success criteria, the $5K credits to Year 1.
What does the implementation fee cover?
Server deployment, schema setup, account registration, user onboarding session, and a go-live sign-off call. Scale also includes custom format mapping and Oracle extract setup. Self-deploy ($2K) is available for banks with strong DevOps teams — you get setup docs + a 90-minute call.
How does the Pilot credit work?
If you sign a Core or Scale contract within 30 days of pilot end and you've hit the agreed KPIs, the full $5K applies to Year 1. So Core Year 1 = $24K license + $6K impl − $5K pilot credit = $25,000. No data migration — the same database carries forward.
Can prices be locked in local currency?
Yes. Contracts can be denominated in GHS, NGN, KES, or ZAR with a fixed exchange rate agreed at signing, locked for the contract length. USD-denominated contracts are recommended for multi-year commitments — less FX risk for both sides at renewal.
Does our data leave our servers?
No. Kilter is entirely self-hosted — runs on your own VM or Docker host and never phones home. No telemetry. No cloud sync. No vendor access. Your SWIFT statements, GL data, and card settlement files stay inside your network perimeter at all times.
What happens at renewal?
Renewal invoices go out 45 days before the licence anniversary. Upgrades happen at renewal at then-current pricing. Downgrading Scale→Core requires 90 days' notice. There is no auto-renew without a signed order form — your procurement team always controls renewal.
How many users are included?
All plans include unlimited users within your organisation. No per-seat fees, ever. Pricing is by capacity (account count) and modules, not headcount. Add as many ops staff, auditors, and internal control reviewers as you need.
What's covered by software updates?
All point releases and minor versions (e.g. 1.1, 1.2) are included in the annual licence. Security patches are always included regardless of contract status. Major version upgrades (2.0+) are offered to existing customers at a discounted upgrade price.
What if we need a non-standard file format?
Most exotic formats are handled by the BYO column-mapping wizard in the UI — no engineering needed. For genuinely custom formats (proprietary binary, legacy mainframe), we build a parser for $3K and ship it as part of your install.
Are there volume discounts?
Yes — kick in at 50+ accounts on Scale, or any Custom tier. Multi-year contracts: −10% on 2-year, −15% on 3-year commit (USD-denominated). Regulators and central banks may qualify for additional discount under our public-interest programme — ask.
What about regulator / central-bank deployments?
Kilter is offered at significant discount or no cost to central banks and financial regulators who use it to audit reconciliation submissions. Public-interest mission helps everyone in the ecosystem. Contact us with your supervisory mandate.
